					<description>In your first post on HexFiend you mentioned that this project started as a test on how the Cocoa Document System handled very large documents.

It would be cool, if you could post about your experiences doing this. I guess there were some non-trivial things involved ;)

					<description>I am a latecomer to this blog, but have you tried mmap(2)? I have seen cases where it can speed up I/O bound code, and this might well be one of them.

					<description>Are you planning to rewrite HexFeind to take advantage of 64 bit cocoa? (if it is indeed cocoa) I recently heard that they've one of the advantages of rewriting TextEdit for Leopard is that it can now open files larger than 4GB. You should be able to brake that limit easy just from your mastery of the cache. As well, you should also be able to use it more since it would be more usefull instead of just thrashing around (its big enough to do more) so you can be more nice to your cache. </description>
